History Laboratory of Theory of Nonlinear Processes

The Laboratory of the Theory of Nonlinear Processes was founded in 1973 by Dr. G.M. Zaslavskii. By the end of the 20th century, the Laboratory’s topical goal was the theoretical study of chaos in classical nonlinear systems. Since 2000, our interests have expanded to include different transport phenomena in microelectronics, electromagnetism, quantum optics, and acoustics. In the 2000s, the emphasis was put on spin-dependent transport and spin polarization phenomena in microelectronic structures with regard to the Rashba spin-orbit interaction.  Nowadays, the primary area of research is propagation of light in photonic crystal structures. In particular, our recent studies address to all-optical switching, bound states in the continuum, and light storage in optical microcavities. Currently, the Laboratory is headed by Dr. Almaz F. Sadreev.
