Nonlinear Cherenkov diffraction of femtosecond laser pulses in irregular domain structures of strontium tetraborate

Cerenkov nonlinear diffraction of femtosecond laser pulses in irregular domain structures of strontium tetraborate is investigated [2]. Angular chirp within the SH cross-section is observed (Fig.1_2). The results of calculations are in good agreement with experimental dependences.

As a result, tunable second harmonic generation is implemented in the tuning range of a femtosecond Ti: sapphire laser. These types of phase matching are used in autocorrelation measurements of femtosecond laser pulse length [3, 4]. The results obtained open new possibilities for creating broadband and tunable nonlinear optical converters for a wide range of applications.
