The generalization to the multidimensional case - the Pendry method, scattering matrix method, finite difference time-domain (FDTD) method, finite element method (FEM). The solution of the dispersion equation for PC. The band structure of a two-dimensional PC - the method of expansion of the eigenfunctions of plane waves, the method to account for resonant media [Belikov A.V., Bogdanovа M.V., Lozovik Yu.E. Mathematical modeling. 19, 19, 2007].
